Newbattle Abbey College can be justifiably proud of the many distinguished poets and writers who have had strong associations with the college. The books of writers such as Edwin and Willa Muir, George Mackay Brown, Bill Findlay, W. S. Graham and Tom Scott are prominently on permanent display here to inspire current students.

Each successive year more students submit their writing to local and national competitions and many have won awards and have gone on to have their work published or included in collections and anthologies.
